On 5 November 2025, Associate Professor Dr. Sutha Khaodhiar, Secretary-General, Thailand (COET), attended the 56th Meeting of the ASEAN Chartered Professional Engineer Coordinating Committee (ACPECC) in Nha Trang, Socialist Republic of Viet Nam. The meeting was chaired by Er. Francis V. Mapile from the Philippines and attended by representatives from all ten ASEAN Member States.
The meeting approved 494 new ASEAN Chartered Professional Engineers (ACPEs), including 5 Thai engineers, bringing the total number of registered ACPEs across ASEAN to 9,388. The Committee also followed up on the development of an electronic certificate (e-Certificate) system to make the registration and verification process faster and more accurate.
In addition, the Committee received progress updates from the Technical Working Group on Mobility of ASEAN Engineers (TWG-MAE). Thailand and Malaysia are currently drafting a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on an Internship and Exchange Program for engineers. The meeting also discussed regional measures to promote engineer mobility and Thailand’s proposal to waive ACPE registration fees, which will be presented to the COET General Assembly in 2026.
