Driving Global Engineering Growth: COE Thailand at the Belt and Road Forum in Chengdu, China

The Council of Engineers, Thailand (COE) proudly stepped onto the international stage at the Belt and Road Forum on Engineering Capacity Building, held from 10 to 12 June 2025 in Chengdu, Sichuan Province, People’s Republic of China. Representing Thailand was Mr. Kittipong Weerapoprasit, First Vice President of the COE, who joined the Forum at the invitation of the China Association for Science and Technology (CAST).

As part of the larger Belt and Road Conference on Science and Technology Exchange, under the powerful theme “Together for Innovation, Development for All,” the Forum brought together leaders in engineering, science, and technology from across the globe to forge meaningful cooperation and build sustainable engineering capacity in the era of rapid global change.

In a highlight of the event, Mr. Kittipong delivered an impactful address on Thailand’s strategic approach to Continuing Professional Development (CPD) — a key enabler for empowering engineers, enhancing professional standards, and preparing Thai engineers to thrive on the international stage. His presentation underscored CPD as not just a national priority, but a global necessity in a world where engineering excellence drives sustainable development.

The COE’s active participation reaffirmed Thailand’s commitment to advancing global partnerships, exchanging innovations, and strengthening networks within the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI). It also reflected the Council’s vision of cultivating a world-class engineering workforce ready to contribute to regional progress and global challenges alike.

🌏 With every international engagement, the Council of Engineers, Thailand continues to champion the development of resilient, future-ready engineers — for Thailand, for ASEAN, and for the world. 🌏
